a message from

STC Orlando Chapter

Welcome! I’m glad you are visiting our site. Let me tell you a little about us. We are the Orlando Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). We were formed in 1977 and are a group dedicated to serving the needs of technical communicators within the greater Orlando area and beyond. We accomplish this by providing our members with

  • An outlet for networking, fellowship, and sharing of information among like-minded technical communicators.
  • Recognition as a member of an active, community-minded professional association.
  • Information regarding technical communication employment opportunities in the central Florida area.
  • Professional leadership opportunities.
In addition, our chapter also provides
  • Funding for Melissa Pellegrin Memorial Scholarships awarded to technical communication students at the University of Central Florida.
  • Mentorship to less experienced technical communicators.
  • Funding and hosting of the annual High School Writing Competition awards.
By this time, you may be asking, “What is a technical communicator, exactly?” Well, a technical communicator can be any one of a number of roles. Some of the more commonly known roles include:

  • Technical Writers
  • Web Designers
  • Technical Illustrators
  • Business Analysts
  • Documentation Specialists
  • Technical Translators
  • Information Developers
  • Technical Editors
  • Indexers
If you’ve never attended one of our monthly chapter meetings, I want to extend a personal invitation to join us as my guest. If you have any questions, you can always email me at president@stc-orlando.org or if you prefer, you can contact us at
