Dear Colleagues:

The Orlando Central Florida STC Chapter has among its missions to support educational initiatives for students and new practitioners and provide professional development opportunities for all technical communicators within our membership and the wider community.

To accomplish this mission, we hold regular monthly meetings of interest to technical communicators, conduct an annual employment panel in which recruiters and employers speak to attendees about best practices for seeking and retaining jobs, and actively pursue connections with the University of Central Florida to assist students as they prepare to enter the workplace. Our mentorship program has a 10-year record of successful activities, pairing students with seasoned professionals, and many graduates of the mentoring program have gone on to become mentors for a newer generation of students.

In addition, since 1993, the chapter has funded and awarded significant undergraduate and graduate scholarships, retitled the Melissa Pellegrin Memorial Scholarship in 1997 to honor our esteemed colleague, who was an outstanding UCF student and technical communicator.

We fund the Melissa Pellegrin Memorial Scholarship, our mentorship program, our technical programs, and all our professional development endeavors through a small amount of STC support but mostly through donations from members, non-members, and corporate sponsors who believe that providing career assistance to deserving students and regular members is our best method of ensuring top-quality communication practices into the future.

For our educational outreach to continue to flourish, we are asking for financial assistance from Central Florida businesses and individual donors. Your contributions of any amount are gratefully received and will be conscientiously applied toward meeting our goals to provide students and practitioners with the highest level of professional support.
